  1. The famous Eiffel Tower in Paris was originally supposed to be located in Barcelona.                                                                          

  2. Barcelona has the largest football stadium in Europe.  It is called FC Barcelona stadium.                                                                                  

  3. Barcelona currently has twelve (12) metro (subway) stations that are not in use.  Many people say these stations are haunted ! Spooky....                                            

  4. The beautiful beaches in Barcelona were created in the early 1990's.  All the sand that is there was brought in from Egypt in order to create the beach.                                                                                 

  5. Some of the famous sites to visit while in Barcelona are:
    - La Sagrada Familia
    - Park Guell
    - Casa Mila
    - Casa Batllo
    - La Rambla
    - The Gothic Quarter

     

  6. While many of the buildings in Barcelona were built by Antoni Gaudi, many of them were designed by his partner Josep Maria Jojol.                    
     

  7. The flag of Spain has two colors on it: red and yellow.
     

  8. Every year on April 23rd, Barcelona celebrates the patron saint of Catalonia (Saint George) by having loved ones give each other roses and books.  Saint George's Day is also World Book Day.
     

  9. La Rambla, the beautiful tree lined walking street in Barcelona is not just one street.  It is actually a grouping of five (5) different streets.                                                                                       

  10. Barcelona's biggest sightseeing attraction is La Sagrada Familia.  Construction began in 1882 and it is still not finished yet!
