  1. Valletta was the first planned city ever built in Europe.                        a

  2. The city of Valletta has been ruled by many different groups of people like the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and more.                                                                                       

  3. Malta is known for its beautiful coastline and is one of the world's best diving locations.  There are many shipwrecks, including submarines, along its coast.                 

  4. Though the official languages are English and Maltese, most people also speak fluent Italian.                                                                                              

  5. Some of the famous sites to visit while in Malta are:
    - Hagar Qim
    - The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum
    - Saint John's Co-Cathedral
    - The island of Gozo
    - The towns of Valletta and Mdina
    - Mnajdra Temple

     

  6. The Hagar Qim temple is over 5,000 years old.  That makes it older than the pyramids in Egypt.       
     

  7. The flag of Malta has two colors on it: red and white.
     

  8. The town of Mdina is surrounded by a wall.                    
     

  9. There are approximately 360 churches in Malta; almost one for every day of the year.                                                                      

  10. Malta's smallest island is Comino.  There is only one hotel and no cars on the island.
